Last week we had our last antenatal class which was a trip to the hospital. Was definitely the most productive and informative of the three sessions.
When you first enter the maternity ward (that just took a good couple of minutes to translate, scary) there is a cloth calendar hanging on the wall with pink and blue markers on the days babies were born. We were standing at the back with another couple and we could see a few green markers. So we spent a while (probably missing something really important) trying to figure out what the green babies were. Home births? Twins? Unidentifiable? When the group moved on and we got closer we saw a key to the symbols underneath.
It was the full moon.
Oh yeah, its goes in a line up the board!
Also noticed there were three weeks with no babies born during summer and wondered what had happened nine months before that (football probably we decided). Then one of the others looked at us pityingly and said "That is when the department here closes down and they have to travel to Molde to have babies." Yeah. We knew that.
